Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Udzungwa protects forested mountains in southern Tanzania and is best known for hiking, waterfalls and high biodiversity rather than traditional vehicle-based safari.
Trails range in length and difficulty. The popular Sanje Waterfalls hike includes steep forest sections and viewpoints, while longer routes require more preparation.
Planning a Visit
Weather can change quickly in the forest, and trails may be slippery after rain. Closed walking shoes, water and light rain protection are useful.
Udzungwa combines naturally with Mikumi on a southern road itinerary and can add active hiking to a safari program.
